Guy Coleman

Growing up in Perth but being fortunate enough to experience agricultural life through a farm in Esperance, Guy Coleman (T: @GeezaColeman) is passionate about agriculture and the diverse and impactful opportunities in the industry. Guy is a currently a PhD Student at the University of Sydney bringing together machine learning, weeds and site-specific weed control, trying to work out how plants interact with detection performance. He has also worked on alternative methods of weed control like lasers and developing robots for targeted weed control delivery in ginger crops. Guy is based at Texas A&M University in College Station until December 2021 for a Fulbright Scholarship.

During his undergraduate studies Guy founded AgriEducate, helping people understand the array of opportunities in agriculture in the same way he had done through his own change from a career path in medicine to one in agriculture. Guy has also served on the Board of the Ag Institute Australia, on the Agrifutures Ignite Panel, as an Ambassador for ThoughtForFood and attended the Bayer Youth Ag Summit in 2019.
