Dr Bede Mickan

Dr Bede Mickan is microbial generalist (more on that later), based out of the University of Western Australia. After dropping out of school in year 11, Bede went on to complete a Bachelors degree, followed by a Masters and a PhD. Bede finished his PhD in 2016 and went straight into the position of research and development manager for Richgro garden products, and has brought scientific understanding to commercialisation at a national level. Bede's research themes fall under;

• Generating value from waste,

• Developing the biorefinery, and

• Climate change (water stress, carbon sequestration.)

Bede also gives back to the next generation of scientists through his role at the university.
